Many economically challenged cities struggle with affordable housing, neighborhood decline, vacancy and a lack of local leadership capacity to address these issues. These challenges – which are often compounded by a deteriorating tax base and increased demand for city services – negatively affect residents’ quality of life and hinder economic growth and recovery. The Network partners with cities to identify the roots causes of these issues and develops actionable strategies to strengthen local capacity, address critical housing concerns and reverse neighborhood decline.
The Network works with cities to break down silos within local government and across sectors to find implementable solutions to community concerns. It provides analysis and tools to help cities deploy limited resources strategically, leverage and align resources with opportunities, use data and outcomes to drive decision making, and utilize best practices from across the country. The Network designs customized housing and community development programs that address cities’ priorities and develop inclusive and equitable communities where residents can thrive.
