Big Ideas for Small Business Report
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the lifeblood of our neighborhoods. Yet too often, those businesses don’t know how to navigate local offices and agencies. Cities can and should do more to serve as partners for small businesses by taking a look at their services through the eyes of small business owners and determine how to improve their experiences.
At the Inaugural Big Ideas for Small Business Summit hosted by the National League of Cities in Chicago, small business and economic development experts from 19 cities joined together to share best practices and address common challenges facing small businesses. While there are distinct differences between cities, we face many of the same challenges. This report presents strategies and specific programs that will help city governments across the country serve as strong partners to small businesses.
