The National Resource Network’s Technical Assistance Clearinghouse is the country’s first ever compilation of technical assistance programs offered to local governments and communities. There are more than 100 different opportunities from federal, state and local agencies and non-governmental organizations listed in the Clearinghouse.
Below are six grant opportunities currently open and have upcoming deadlines. Click on the accompanying link to learn more about the eligibility and application instructions for each.
U.S. Economic Development Administration
The U.S. Economic Development Administrationsupports development in economically distressed areas of the country by fostering job creation and attracting private investment. Grant awards will leverage regional assets to support the implementation of regional economic development strategies designed to create jobs, leverage private capital, encourage economic development, and strengthen America's ability to compete in the global marketplace.

Smart Growth America Technical Assistance Workshops
Each year, Smart Growth America makes a limited number of technical assistance workshops available to interested communities for zero cost. This competitive award gives communities a chance to understand the technical aspects of smart growth development through a one or two-day workshop. Communities can apply for one of 12 workshop types as part of the free program.

Technical Assistance Scholarship Program (TASP) Center for Community Progress
The Technical Assistance Scholarship Program (TASP) serves communities in need of technical assistance to assess, reform, develop and/or implement systems to address large-scale vacancy and abandonment in their respective communities. With this program, Community Progress aims to develop innovative models and approaches that will not only serve the technical assistance recipient, but will also help to inform the stabilization and revitalization efforts of communities across the country.

Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) Programs
The Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund was established by the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994 to promote economic revitalization in low-income communities. The CDFI Program is one of the primary ways that the CDFI Fund works to achieve this mission. The purpose of the CDFI Program is to use federal resources to invest in CDFIs and to build their capacity to serve low-income people and communities that lack access to affordable financial products and services.

New Mobility West (NMW) Community Assistance Application
The New Mobility West program will provide four rounds of direct technical assistance to communities across the Rocky Mountain West to address specific challenges or opportunities at the nexus of transportation and community development. Assistance will be awarded through a competitive application process and will be tailored to local needs and opportunities, taking place over two to four months.

Sustainable Design Assessment Teams (SDAT) American Institute of Architects
Sustainable Design Assessment Teams is a community assistance program that focuses on the principles of sustainability. SDATs bring teams of volunteer professionals (such as architects, urban designers, landscape architects, planners, hydrologists, economists, attorneys, and others) to work with community decision-makers and stakeholders to help them develop a vision and framework for a sustainable future.
